I think it's a very interesting question. People who are content with themselves or achieved something, upon reading it, will become even happier. Majority of people however, in my opinion, would experience guilt, fear, pain, anger, injustice or regrets. People who didn't have anything major happening to them and are living usual calm lives would feel confusion and forget about the letter.
