De jure, China and Taiwan are a single country (with its one true government either located in Beijing, according to the People's Republic of China; or in Taipei, according to the Republic of China), and neither the UN nor any of its members officially recognises them as separate countries. De facto, they have been two entirely separate countries since 1949.
De jure, the Crimean peninsula is recognised by the UN and most of its members as part of Ukraine. De facto, it has been administered as part of Russia since 2014.
De jure, Northern Cyprus is recognised by the UN and all but one of its members as part of the Republic of Cyprus. De facto, it has been an entirely independent country since 1983.
